This weekend the Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) will take place. Over 1 million Boy Scouts of America scouts from around the world will participate, with the opportunity to experience different facets of the Amateur Radio hobby.
Here in Butler County, scouts will participate from Moraine State Park. Local amateur radio operators from Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer counties will setup stations at the park so that scouts can use various radio modes to communicate, including:
- 2 Meters
- HF
- DMR
- Echolink
- FRS/GMRS
Activities include Foxhunting, MESH networking, Parks on the Air, and Satellite.
All amateurs are encouraged to particiapte in this event by having QSOs with the scouts. The scouts will be on the air from 9:00 AM to noon, and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM EDT. The calling frequencies are as follows:
