We are thrilled to announce that we will be holding Field Day 2022 at the Winfield Township Municipal Building.  We will also be using remote tools such as the N3FPJ Field Day Contest Log and Club Score Processor along with our VHF/UHF repeaters and this website to allow people who wish to operate from home to still participate in the fun.

Field Day is Amateur Radio’s Open House
It is an opportunity for local amateur radio clubs to showcase the skills, science and technologies that make radio communication such a wonderful hobby and a valuable public service.

New Rules for 2022 and Beyond
The ARRL adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic with some temporary rule changes for Field Days 2020 and 2021. Most of the pandemic is behind us however people really liked the changes so the ARRL decided to make these permanent starting this year.  See this announcement from the ARRL for details:

Some New Rules Going into Effect this Year for ARRL Field Day

General Field Day information can be found at the ARRL Field Day Page.

LATEST FIELD DAY NEWS

The ARRL has made permanent the temporary rules instituted for Field Days 2020 and 2021.

  1. Home stations (Class D) can get credit for contacting other home stations.  The club aggregate scoring change initiated in 2020 as a temporary measure will become part of the permanent rules. In the aggregate scoring plan, the scores of individual stations are combined under the score of a single club.

  2.  The maximum PEP output for a transmitter used by anyone submitting a Field Day log will be 100 W.  The power multiplier will remain at 5 for QRP participants running a maximum of 5 W or less.

The following is an overview of 2022 Field Day rules. The list is not exhaustive and you should refer to the ARRL Field Day page for all the details.

CALL SIGNS – Club members who operate from home should use their own call sign, not the club call sign for Field Day.  Credit will still go to the club as long as everyone uses the exact same club name when uploading their results to the ARRL. We will use the following designation for our club:

Butler County AR Public Srvc Group

This name must be submitted exactly as written above. Variations such as “BCARPSG”,  “Butler Co. Public Service Group”, “Butler County PSG” will not work. Computers are processing the results and computers are not smart enough to know these are all the same thing.

LOGGING SOFTWARE – Those of you who use logging software should check with the developers to see what updates they have. We recommend the N3FPJ Field Day Contest Log and Club Score Processor. It is not only easy to use but also allows stations to log their contacts to a central database. The software also enables home stations to post their contacts in real time to our website.

RULES – All the usual Field Day rules still apply (station class, power, points, etc..).  Please see the ARRL Field Day Rules page for details.

DUPLICATES – This applies to home stations only: Do not worry about duplicates with other club members. Since each home station is operating as an individual there are no club duplicates to worry about.

SCORING – All individual (home) and club scores, including bonus points, will be added together to determine the aggregate club score.

CLUB COORDINATION – We are going to use the 147.300 and 443.900 repeaters to stay in touch and coordinate during Field Day.

STATION CLASS – Operate as the class appropriate for your station. Even though there will be an aggregate club score this does not mean you should sign as an “A” station.

NEW GUYS and GALS – Please do not hesitate to reach out to any fellow club members for help and with questions. Field Day is a great time to learn.

Field Day 2020 was a time for radio amateurs to demonstrate their ability to adapt. Most BCARPSG members participated from home. Thanks to the generous hospitality of Butler County Emergency Services we were able to activate a Class 2F EOC station at the Butler County Emergency Operations Center.
