News

6/23/2024 – Well folks, I believe we had quite a successful Field Day!   Highlights of the event included an estimated 15 visitors asking lots of questions, a Butler Eagle staff visit, asking more questions and taking pictures, two people tested, earning their General Class License and finally, I believe a good time had by all attendees!  Congratulations go out to club member Robert Wormer (KC3YYQ) who upgraded to General and new operator, Justin Stout, who passed both the Technician and General exams!  Justin is in the Air Force and drove from Lynchberg, Va. to test with us!

6/18/2024 – Folks, please welcome Bill Petraglia (KC3YVD) to our club!  Bill joined the PSG last April and somehow he slipped though a crack and was never placed on our roster.  As president, I accept full responsibility for the error, as I do maintain the roster! Thank-you for choosing to join the PSG Bill!

6/12/2024 – We had a GREAT meeting this  week!  I think we set a record for attendance and just confirmed today, we even added a new member to our Group.  Robert Womer, KC3YYQ is a friend of Tom, W3TXG and also hails from Seven Fields, PA.  By far, I believe our greatest resource is our membership.  Welcome to the club Bob!!!

5/25/2024 – Congratulations go out to Rick Wroblewski (KC3ZGD) , who earned his Technician License, at his home just south of Butler today!  Rick was confined to a wheel chair somtime back and wanted to explore the amateur radio hobby.  Welcome to this awsome hobby Rick!  Thanks also goes out to Mike, N3DRM for coordinating the test session and Carl, K3KMD for helping to make it happen.  I thought it was a very nice way to kick off the Memorial Day weekend!

5/12/2024 – Congratulations go out to Evan Bertoncello, KC3ZDE and Levi Kupec, KC3ZDD who took and passed the Technician License exam following the PSG Meeting last Wednesday evening!  Welcome gentlemen to this interesting, wonderful hobby!

5/6/2024 – Good News!!!  Haven’t had much club news to post lately, but this evening’s Butler County Net was definitely the highlight of my day!  I may very well be the last one to know, but I found out that Jim Pierce, KC3MRE (aka, “Northern Exposure”) and his XYL, Karen, KC3NOB have left Erie and Jim is back in Harrisville, at least for the time being.  Karen is temporarily living in an apartment, near the new position she accepted with an Ohio library.  Welcome back to the southlands folks!!!
